Hello,Forum-M.D.-
I went to a clinic today that specializes just in infectious diseases and STD,s there was a 3 month waiting period but I managed to get in.I needed another opion from some one that specialized in the field then just another health clinic..anyways I,m happy to say after 15 1/2 long weeks the test was negative..I do have to admit when I told them my symptoms and that my exposer was to one that was indeed HIV positive they were alittle concerned and was preparing me for the worst, come on Doctor you can admit you were aliitle concerned about this one to ..I know the chance that I tested positive were probably 1 in 10 million or so but look at the people winning the lotto every week..but anyway I,m glad to say that I wasn't that 1 in 10 million today,I do have another appointment for more blood work to rule out other STDs, and I think I,ll look at other possible causes.I want to thank you Doctor for your support,I had to come back and give my result because I think its good for everyone to know on this form with even such a high risk and all the symptoms i experienced they can rely on your opion keep up the good work Doctor .Kindest Regards
Oh no! The word is out! All the HIV scientists and public health experts world wide are in a conspiracy to hide the evidence of th new HIV-3 strain. How did you figure it out? Better be careful; I'm sure the UN, CIA, and Mossad are cooperating to stamp out leaks like this.
I deleted your comment. Unscientific BS belongs on the HIV support forum (and maybe not there). I will not tolerate it here..

Your symptoms don't sound much like HIV, which doesn't cause sinus drainage, for example. You can expect a negative HIV test, again. It simply is not true that "everything is pointing to HIV".
Follow your doctor's advice, and feel free to come back to tell us about your next HIV test result. But thati s the only additional comment I will permit from you or anyone else. Otherwise, this thread is over. Feel free to continue discussion on the HIV support forum.
Hello,Doctor just wanted to keep you updated,i,m still very sick i cant seems to shack this fatigue i have constant headaches, constant sinus drainage, still swollen neck and joint and muscle pains and my white tongue is now developing thrush and my vision is getting blurry on and off,i,m scheduled for another HIV test on Friday April 6,this will be 15 weeks or so after the possible exposer,i am really scared doctor what are my chance my 91 day will remain negative.i know its suppose to be definate but no doctors can find out whats wrong with me,everything is pointing to hiv,any last advice doctor would really be appreciated.thanks
Hey, everybody. No online doc provides direct health care. My original reply included advice that ssharpie follow up with his own doctor, who might indeed recommend further HIV testing. All I can say is that despite the high risk exposure, the overall evidence (negative tests, nonspecific symptoms, nothing found by his doctor except fatty liver, etc) make HIV/ARS extremely unlikely. But if his doc recommends it, he should have further HIV testing.
In any case, presumably ssharpie came to this site for reassurance that he doesn't have HIV. I agree he probably does not.
This thread is over, unless/until ssharpie wants to return to post additional HIV test results.

Yeah ..He should listen to you and not the DR.....pfffff
maybe kawasaki's just for the hell of it. The rash I had was erythema multiforme, it does favor the backs of the hands. but that is it from me. I appreciate your expertise Dr. H. and your help
Could it be HSV-1? I suppose. Is it likely? No way. To my knowledge, the only systemic dermatosis that accompanies HSV infection is erythema multiforme, and his descriptions don't sound at all like it. Taking all of his symptoms together, including the duration and without localized oral or genital symptoms that sound like herpes, that possibility is a real stretch. From his description, if ssharpie were my patient, I wouldn't even test for HSV.
In any case, the main points for ssharpie are 1) it isn't HIV and 2) seeing a knowledgeable health care provider is the way to sort it out. Online searching or debate isn't going to get him anywhere.

not too fast, Dr. H., you are a smart man, but HSV 1 also can have be associated with a severe immune response and rash like his when aquired in adulthood. I am not saying this is a diagnosis, but only trying to help, and also interested in his rash because it resembles mine and he is also right around my time period now as possible exposure.
Hello,Doctor
I read your post I have HSV-2 not 1, would that change the possibility? And if I were a walk in patient and I told you all the above symptoms and i told you I was never tested for HIV.What would you think with the above. What would you test me for? What would come to mind?
Given your high risk exposure, and symptoms which fall right in the time frame for acute hiv infection, certainly it would be wise to do another test at 4-5 months, just to make sure. I know Dr. HHH would probably disagree, but most testing clinics would probably say the same as me, due to your high risk and symptoms.
Disregard the remark from "reassuarnce" about herpes. There is no way herpes explains your symptoms (as you probably know, since you are experienced with genital herpes).
I have had very similar symptoms, and was negative out to 12 and half weeks, I will retest soon. I developed a red rash on the tops of my hands and feet, and pink papules on my abdomen soon after that are still there. i also had fever, night sweats and anorexia for a little while. I had an rna bdna that came back undetectable but am still very scared. I still have a sore throat. It seems I am in the same boat as you. Undiagnosed, and past a 99% window period. I tested negative to herpes 2, but if you just got it, that could be the reason for your sickness and rash
since you tested neg at week 13 you have nothing to worry..calm and take care
protected sex or unprotected..you didn't mention that..
I don't know the cause of your symptoms, but the negative HIV tests prove you don't have HIV. Garlic does not make HIV tests unreliable; no medicine does, and almost no medical conditions do so either.
I cannot help, except to suggest the obvious: continue to follow up with your own health care provider if your symptoms continue or you are otherwise concerned. But put HIV out of your mind; no chance.
Good luck-- HHH, MD
