by jifnif, Aug 01, 2007 10:07AM
I guess you all have read that I miscarried at 6 weeks yesterday.  boo hoo!! :(  my dr said that I am not considered habitual until 4 or 5 miscarriages!!!!  They dont do anything for me yet.  A lot of people are saying it is cuz of my age??!!  Have any of you girls had more than 2 miscarriages and then gone on to have a healthy baby????  I was okay until all of this.  :(

To: habitual miscarriage
I have a 13 yr old son. I had no problems with that pregnacy but since then I've had 7 miscarriages with no good explanation from the doctors I've been to. They can't find anything wrong with me. They said it is good that I have had 1 good pregnancy, because it shows that I can get pregnant. So even with so many miscarriages God did bless me with 1 beautiful son and I'm very grateful for having him.

How many miscarriages have you had now? I had 3 and afer my 2nd requested testing of the fetus, the doctors sent out the tissue from my D&C and tested it and found an abnormality.  That is BS that they "can't do anything for you" most doctors will wait until 3 miscarriages but Im sure if you request that they do testing they will look into it.  You are the patient and the one suffering, let them know what you want and Im sure they will do it for you (you're going to be the one paying for it anyway.. lol) After they found the problem with my miscarriage they referreed me to a genetic counselor. (I didn't go because my pregnancy was not planned and I wasn't planning on having a baby anytime soon.)
Anyway, when I got pregnant this time around the first thing I did was sit down with a genetic counselor and talk about risks, options, things to watch out for etc. etc.  And I wouldn't have gotten to talk to her or even found out why I was miscarrying if I hadn't asked my doctor to test the fetus.  If you do have another miscarriage and your doctor tries to say "there is nothing we can do" tell him BS I WANT you to do something.  I hope that things work out for you in the future.. Good luck.
