I had to come home from work-I plan to take the next couple of days of if necessary and then the weekend and that will give me 5 days between until I go back to work. I can't see my doctor about it-not an option, I work in the same medical facility and word gets around and the doctors here aren't as understanding....trust me. I just DESPERATLY NEED HELP with how to survive this....I am going off Hydrocodone 10/500 cold turkey! I am going to try to go to the store later and get some Immodium, L-Tyrosine and vitamin B6 caps.  Can anyone PLEASE PLEASE give me advise on how to do this....withdrawls have been awful....like having the flu.....I do have an OLD prescription for Xanax to help but that is my only option...can't ask for another type RX like that.....ANYTHING at all would be greatly appreciated...any help!! I feel so awful....and alone...I'm only 31 year old and know life has gotta be better....
Thanks so much for everything....please keep me in your prayers! Oh, also....I am on Zoloft 100mg qd and didn't know if I could do certain things while taking them...like the Thomas Recipe.
Thanks so much again!!

Thanks for your comment! I KNOW that this is a lifetime commitment and am not naive enough to think that I'm "cured".....but I believe in myself again and am beginning to find my way back. I could never have done this without ya'll.

Thank ya'll SO much for any and all responses!! Even if I didn't post on here I was checking in constantly just to feel like I wasn't alone! I had NO IDEA that so many people had the same problem that I did....I thought I was SO ALONE in this! I am now back to work today....last night was still a little rough...the leg (thigh) cramping was really bad yesterday and last night! Of course I laid down and tossed and turned and got maybe 2 hours of sleep but that's been the same since Day 1.
I just wanted to let everyone know that YOU CAN DO IT!!! Yes it's rough, it seems impossible at times, but it's not!! I have found myself again these past two days, I have found my way back to God and prayer and I will lift you all up!! You are ALL forever on my mind and always in my heart! Keep posting guys-I love the support!
God Bless you all,
Txgirl8

OK guys....thanks so much!! The first couple of days were absolutely pure hell....physically....the muscle aches (legs) and lack of energy, couldn't really even get up and around...BTW I was taking about 30 Hydro./day and quit cold turkey. I am now on Day 4 and am actually feeling alive...
NO HYDROCODONE on 4th day!!! Is this good? The only complaints really is my leg muscles are killing me and I'm not quiet up to 100% energy wise...but I might just make it! Thanks for responding ya'll...!!
Oh...yesterday I was going through my medicine cabinets throwing out bottles and I came across a bottle with 3 Hydrocodones in it....I sorta laughed to myself and said "this is your test, huh, God" and then threw it out!!! I'm SOOO proud of that!! God Bless you all!!

I never compared percs, vics, ultram, and darvocet, with any other drug. I just listed those drugs in no particular order. And, heroin is not listed at all. I intentionally left that out, along with meth, cocaine and many other street drugs. As far as I know, all of the opiates I listed can effect you psychologically as well as physically. The latter drugs listed were not intended to be listed in order of strength, or how hard they are to detox from. Every person reacts to drugs differently.

no offense, BUT addiction is addiction...1 drug is not worse than another if you are an addict, they all can kill you in large amounts.... if you are an addict you will most likely do anything you can get your hands on,i know i did....

Thomas Recipe:
For the exception of the Valium its ok I guess..........
Valium is addictive even in the recipe it states Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. Before you use any benzo, make sure you're aware of how often it can be safely taken. Different benzos have different dosing schedules. Taper your Valium dosage down after each day. The goal is to get through day 4, after which the worst WD symptoms will subside. You shouldn't need the Valium after day 4 or 5. During detox...........

The main reason why I am against the Valium the addict who cannot control taking pain meds is now expected to responsibly take Valium on a strick detox schedule..........
But your detox is all because you can't control your own intake of another pill.........

Sorry but no offense to GaGuy but to compare Percs, Vics, Ultram, Darvocet with Morphine, Fentanyl, and Dilaudud or Heroin is incorrect.....The ladder has heavy effects you psychologically as well as physically........

You already prepared the proper time grab something PM and some Night time Nyquil.....and some  Imodium would be recommended........
Then a remote control some DVDs try to drink as much water as you can so you don't get dehydrated.........Showers are very good as well...........
The rest is up to you, prepare and focus four or five days will go by fast and then your ready to start your recovery........

Good luck to you..........

YOU CAN NOT TAKE L-TYROSINE WHILE ON ZOLOFT.. can cause a reaction.. Not all supplements can be safely taken with anti depressants.. Can raise neurotransmitters to an unhealthy level.. and could give you serotonin syndrome..( which isn't fun)
The B6 is fine dont' take them close to bed.. and drink lots of fluids..
How many were you taking per day??

This is a work in progress...something I've been working on off and on for the last couple of weeks. It's not considered complete, but has lots of info from lots of sources. If any of the "old timers" have anything to add, let me know and I'll add it to the document. I hope to use this to post a general "how to" every couple of days or so.

Listed below are suggestions for detoxing and quitting an opiate addiction. They are just suggestions compiled from the detox plans of people that have gone through cold turkey detox before. They are just that, suggestions, and any detox plan is best when done under a doctor's care. Consult your doctor before trying any of the suggestions below.
This is prewritten for anyone who is beginning, or planning on beginning, a cold turkey withdrawal to opiates. This includes drugs such as tramadol (Ultracet and Ultram) codeine (Tylenol #3, #4), Darvocet, Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Norco, Lortab and derivatives),  Oxycodone (Endocet, Percocet, Oxycontin), Morphine, Demerol. Fentanyl, and Dilaudud. There are many other opiates not listed, so if you don’t see it listed, you can still use these suggestions if it’s an opiate based addiction. None of these apply to benzodiazepine based addictions. These addictions should never be dealt with by going cold turkey. Always consult a doctor for a detox plan for benzos.

First of all, opiate withdrawals are uncomfortable, but rarely life threatening. You may think you’re going to die, but most of the withdrawal symptoms are just very uncomfortable. If possible, take some time off work or schedule a week or so in order to fully detox. You will honestly not feel like doing much anyway. Opiate withdrawal symptoms usually start 12-24 hours after your last dose. But, the timing of withdrawal symptoms depends upon the drug taken, length of time you’ve been taking it, and how you react to medications. The physical withdrawals usually last 3-7 days, with days 3 and 4 being the worst. Once again, this is all dependent on the person. You can expect these symptoms. Dilated pupils, diarrhea, runny nose, goose bumps, abdominal pain, stomach cramps, sweating, agitation, anxiety, nausea, vomiting, leg cramps, general aches and pains, and sleeplessness. This list is not absolute. You may experience all of these symptoms, only some of them, or other symptoms. Again, we are all different. Below is the famous Thomas Recipe. It gives some general information along with supplements that help with the withdrawal symptoms. The only thing I would add to this list is a blood pressure drug named clonidine. It effectively lowers the blood pressure and lessens many of the withdrawal symptoms. Most any doctor will prescribe it if you’re honest as to why you need it. Discuss dosages and frequency with your doctor.

Thomas Recipe:

1. Valium (or another benzodiazepine such as Klonopin, Librium, Ativan or Xanax). Of these, Valium and Klonopin are best suited for tapering since they come in tablet form. Librium is also an excellent detox benzo, but comes in capsules, making it hard to taper the dose. Ativan or Xanax should only be used if you can't get one of the others.
2. Imodium (over the counter, any drug or grocery store).
3. L-Tyrosine (500 mg caps) from the health food store.
4. Strong wide-spectrum mineral supplement with at least 100% RDA of Zinc, Phosphorus, Copper and Magnesium.
5. Vitamin B6 caps.
6. Access to hot baths or a Jacuzzi (or hot showers if that's all that's available).

How to use the recipe:
Begin your detox with regular doses of Valium (or alternate benzo). Start with a dose high enough to produce sleep. During detox, hit the hot bath or Jacuzzi as often as you need to for muscle aches. Don't underestimate the effectiveness of hot soaks. Spend the entire time, if necessary, in a hot bath. This simple method will alleviate what is for many the worst opiate WD symptom.
Use the Imodium aggressively to stop the runs. Take as much as you need, as often as you need it. Don't take it, however, if you don't need it. At the end of the fourth day, you should be waking up from the Valium and experiencing the beginnings of the opiate WD malaise. Upon rising (empty stomach), take the L-Tyrosine. Try 2000 mgs, and scale up or down, depending on how you feel. You can take up to 4,000 mgs. Take the L-Tyrosine with B6 to help absorption. Wait about one hour before eating breakfast. The L-Tyrosine will give you a surge of physical and mental energy that will help counteract the malaise. You may continue to take it each morning for as long as it helps. If you find it gives you the "coffee jitters," consider lowering the dosage or discontinuing it altogether. Occasionally, L-Tyrosine can cause the runs. Unlike the runs from opiate WD, however, this effect of L-Tyrosine is mild and normally does not return after the first hour. Lowering the dosage may help. With breakfast, take the mineral supplement. As soon as you can force yourself to, get some mild exercise such as walking, cycling, swimming, etc. This will be hard at first, but will make you feel considerably better.
