I had the Nissan several months ago...I went thru the normal problems of learning to eat etc. I was having severe chest pair prior to and after the surgery. I spent a couple wks at Mayo recently.  They did a series of tests and determined that some of the nerve endings in my esphagus were inapporiately firing ( Mayos term ) causng pain signals to the brain. They put me on Trazodone to eliminate the pain..but lthere are so many side effects I had to stop taking it. I feel pretty good now but have terrible excess gas at times. A couple days ago I started taking Beano..I did not have much faith that it would work, but since starting it, my stomach pain has been minimized and I feel much better. I also have an RX for a hydrocodone liquid which I can take if the pain in the chest gets bad. It only takes a small sip of the liquid to help with the chest pain. Mayo felt that over time and if I was able to continue the Trazodone, the nerve endings could be retrained to stop the pain firings. I hope this information helps.    Dave
