chest pain 3 months after cardiac ablation

by kns113, Aug 02, 2007 09:42PM
I had a cardiac ablation procedure 3 months ago, to correct severe PVC's (30,000+ in a day).  Procedure was long (lots of zaps) and they didn't think they fixed it, but in the end, the PVC's went away and it was a success.

It has been 3 months and I've had no real symptoms or issues.  Except, in the last two weeks, I've started to experience pangs of pain in my chest, high up-- across from my arm pit.  They aren't terrible (I don't grimace) and they last for only a second or so, but they seem to keep happening...and now more often.  Is this normal??  I have called my EP and he is out until Monday.  Any ideas???

I am approximately four years post procedure and i am having a similar issue.  Pain started a few weeks after surgery and it has progressively become more frequent and painful.  My doctor said it was inflammation of my intercoastal cartilage, but I am starting to worry that it is something more.  Please let me know if you found anything out.  I am in the process of seeking out another opinion.
Thanks!

I had an ablation about 6 yrs ago.  I experienced chest pain prior to the ablation.  Yet it has become more frequent and painful since my ablation.  I have had an ekg and worn a monitor yet I am told my heart is healthy.  Let me know if any one has experience this also

Perhaps it is musculoskeletal. Have you also had a stress test to check for ischemia?

Hi Im 20 and I had an ablation for AVNRT (wide complex and narrow complex)  back in march and suffered from small pangs of pain in my chest for a few months afterwards. (lasting only a few seconds and occuring only a few times a day max) but they've gone now completely.  I had no chest pains before the ablation so I put it down to the inflammation of my heart after the ablation, after all they are burning tissue so there will be scar tissue left and your heart will be swollen for some time after.  I wouldnt worry about it for the moment, it has only been three months, but if they last for much longer maybe seek a second opinion?  Good luck x
