spot on lower femur

Sir:  The last time I had a bonescan it showed a dark spot above the knee.  I also have arthritis of the knee and the radiologist decided it was due to that.  It showed up again on my bonescan I had last week and they are going to do a catscan because it does look suspicious.  It never was there before but now I am worried.  The rest of the scan looked good.  Is this a normal place that breast cancer would metastisize to?  Thank you.

Dear Napolean, Breast cancer can metastasize to the bone (and that can be to bone anywhere in the body).  A bone scan is not very specific and often a suspicious area is followed up by an x-ray or other scanning procedure to get more clues about the suspicous area.
