lumps under my arm

by flychick, Feb 17, 2004 12:00AM
i am 21. 2 1/2 weeks ago, while shaving, i noticed a small lump under my right arm. i figured it was a "zit" and didnt think much about it. now, the one, small lump has turned into a lump the size of a large grape and two more small lumps have developed. these are deep under the skin and at first, there was no discoloration of the skin or discomfort. but now, the skin surface above the big one is red and the whole area is very sensitive. i have ruled out the "zit theory", but still think it might just be a "boil" or "rising". reluctant to go to the doctor as most people are. wondering what you think?

Dear flychick:  From your description, this sounds more like an infection (perhaps an ingrown hair).  However, since it has been there a while and is not resolving on its own, you should have it evaluated.
