Bad side effects from AC. couldn't finish T, what's my prognosis?

by Remy, Apr 08, 2005 12:00AM
I was diagnosed in Oct.'04 with 2 seperate cancers, side by side .4cm and .6cm, Sentinel node positive, 14 others negative. had lumectomy, clean margins, hormoninal pos. I had 4 rounds of AC, dose dense, which I didn't tolerate well, Despite Procrit I needed 2 blood transfusions. After the 1st Taxol treatment my Dr. stopped Chemo. I couldn't take anymore. Homeglobin was 5.2, I could hardy breath, couldn't walk, had horrible pain in legs ( I should mention I also have Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy) I am now on radiation, 10 treatments to go (33 total), RBC's are dropping slightly, now at 11.2. Liver enzymes are elevated as well as Billirubin. I am also taking Arimidex, no side effects as yet. Do you recommend any further testing? Mammogram never showed my cancer, was only found because I requested a breast MRI after reading a magazine article.  What is my prognosis?  Thanks.

Dear Remy:  In general, women with early stage breast cancer have a very good prognosis.  It is impossible to make specific statements about anyone's individual prognosis.  It is unknown whether doing "part" of the chemotherapy will have any impact on any specific case.  Your oncologist may be able to have a better, more specific conversation with you as it pertains

specifically to you.
