Dear nikoula:  Phyllodes tumors are largely considered benign tumors.  A percentage of these tumors can be malignant.  The estimation is between 16% and 30% but the actual incidence is unknown.  Treatment for phyllodes tumors involves removing the tumor with wide margins.  Follow up would depend upon whether the tumor is benign or malignant.  You should discuss with your doctor whether your tumor was benign or malignant and the recommended followup.  The prognosis depends upon whether the tumor is benign or malignant and if malignant whether it spreads.
