THE TECH DID BOTH BREASTS AND BOTH SHOULDER AREAS,(IT WAS MY FIRST MAMMOGRAM AT 34)THE DOCTOR TOLD ME WHATEVER IT IS I COULD REST ASSURED IT WAS NOT IN HER OPINION CANCER AND SHOWED ME THE X-RAYS OF BOTH BREASTS,SHE ALSO SAID WHATEVER IT WAS SHE FEELS IT WAS IN MY BLOOD AND IT COULD BE ONE HUNRED DIFFERENT THINGS. AFTER THAT SHE DECIDED TO SET ME UP WITH A SURGEON WHO HAD A CATSCAN OF MY LUNGS SET UP SOMETHING ABOUT BACTERIA BEING ABLE TO CAUSE SUCH SWELLING OF THE GLANDS UNDER THE ARMS AND HE LET ME KNOW THAT I HAD SWOLLEN GLANDS UNDER BOTH WHICH HE FELT REDUCED THE RISK OF IT BEING SERIOUS, I AM NOT A SICKLY PERSON I HAVE NEVER HAD HEART OR BLOOD PRESSURE PROBLEMS I AM OVERWIEGHT WHICH I AM TRYING TO REMEDY,NO CHOLESTEROL ISSUES,I HAD A CHILD IN 04 WHICH I BREAST FED FOR SIX MONTHS, AND NOW I AM QUITE NERVOUS, ALTHOUGH THEY TELL ME NOT TO BE. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME INFORMATION AND EASE MY TROUBLED MIND, THANKS

Dear CYNNAE71:  I am not clear on why surgery is being done as everything you say in your message suggests that there is no suspicion of breast cancer.  Certainly, there could be many other reasons for taking a biopsy.  You might benefit from asking your surgeon why he is doing the surgery so you can understand.

I had lumps under both arms and had both removed.  The last one removed was under my left arm and it turned out to be nothing.  Since the surgery a new lump has formed above the incision and it changes on occasion. I have been back to the surgeon several times and he states that it is the tendon, scar tissue or more breast tissue.  He does not advise surgery for fear it would make it worse.  What should I do?  I have a history of breast cancer in my family on my mom's side and have always had the changing lump under my left arm. It was removed but I continue to have problems.  Should I seek another opinion or forget about it?  It gets very sore and it changes.  That frightens me. The surgeon  actually called me out of the blue the other day to see how I was doing.  I thought that was strange...

Any advice would help. Thank you.
