I am soon to be 54 have been on Fareston for 5 years and now my Oncologist wants to put me on an aromabase inhibitor. He says I am at greater risk for  having  Ovarian Caner by having had Breat Cancer. Is that risk that high that I should have an Oopherectomy?

Dear Mules, Having a history of breast cancer is a risk factor for ovarian cancer.  A decision regarding oopherectomy (removal of ovaries) would need to be based on the overall weighing of risks and benefits in an individual situation, and would not be based on one factor (ie. history of breast cancer) alone.  This is something that would need to be discussed with your oncologist in context of your individual situation.
