Breast Bruising

by Discomom, Dec 08, 2006 12:00AM
I was in a car accident last week.  The seatbelt left a bruise the size of an orange on the inside of my left breast.  It was a very dark purple and blue color.  Now it has began to yellow around the edges and yellow is also appearing on the left side of this breast, opposite the bruise.  Also a tender, red area the size of a quarter is appearing near the center of the bruise with a lump in it.  It was not sore last week, but now since this red area has appeared, it is sore.  Is there any cuase for concern or will this all go away in time?

Dear Discomom,  Bruising, and pain are not an uncommon occurrence after an injury.  This should decrease over time.  It is difficult to comment about the lump without benefit of physical examination and asking questions.   If it is not continuing to heal and the lump persists, you may want to have it checked by your doctor.
