breast cancer (fluid accumlation -no bacteria Seroma)

in 2004 had a double mastectomy w/immediate expanders.  Several months later had replaced with saline implants also had pain in left breast tried flexill & motrin but pain was always there. In april 07 was told i had capsular contraction. Plastic surgeon removed saline implants and replaced with silicone for a more comfortable feel.  well, 8 months after surgery i had a fluid build up in right breast, a ct scan was ordered, the hospital drained 300cc of yellow fluid and sent me home with a drain and anti-bi (results of fluid showed no bacteria) i drained about 100cc for a week, till i got to 50cc they told me the drain would have to come out, and my body should absorb the rest.  My plastic surgeon gave me flexill & motrin for the pain and my primary gave me a water pil to take.  Its been almost 2 months now still have a lot of pain in breast the muscle feels like it not attached every time i bend over it feels like im not attached
my arm is sore i cannot make a muscle without pain.  feeling dizzy all the time with stomach upsets.  The plastic surgeon does really know what elso to do, he suggested a mri this week to maybe see what might to going on.  We dont know if there is still fluid left in there of not.  Can you suggest anything else we might be able to try.  I am not one for sitting around , or taking pain killers. I have also been very active in the gym, and playing tennis with my daughter.  I cant do much anymore.
Please help. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Thank you donna

Dear donna:  Without evaluation we cannot speculate on the best approach to address your problems.  Your plastic surgeon, who is familiar with your anatomy and the procedures that were done is probably best equipped to answer your questions.  However, if he is out of ideas, you may benefit from a second opinion from another plastic surgeon.  You might look for one that specializes in complex surgeries or dealing with complications of plastic surgeries.

what are these plastic surgeons called who specializes  in complications in surgery?

I had the same surgery 12/03. A few weeks later I had to have one implant removed due to major "hospitalborne" infection. 2 weeks after that I lost the second implant.  All this time, I had the symptoms you describe.  I was not well from those 3 surgeries until May 2004. So, I chose not to try implants again. While I lived my life with those 36DD's for many of my 49 years at the time...I am living my life without them now at 54 and lovin it.
I can't say I'd risk a killer infection and almost dying from it again.
I did have a total hysterectomy 10/04 on recommendation since I have BRCA2 mutation. I opted to have a full tummy tuck at the same time.  Again I had a hard time healing because of infection.  Now that surgery (the tummy tuck) I wouldn't trade for the world...should have done it after the 3rd C-section.
Time to get vocal...squeeky wheel gets the grease.
Someone has an answer...

Thank you for your response.  How in the world did you get hospitalborne infection wow what a disappointment. You are a very strong lady from what i have read.  When they sent out the fluid at the hosptial they said there was no bactaria in it, I would guess something like that would have shown up.  Thank you for the info.  I hope i can be as strong as you. Be well! donna
