Changes in Ultra Sound In only 6 months

by Cathi in Florida, Jul 17, 2007 12:00AM
I was diagnosed w/lobular breast cancer June 06, treated w/lumpectomy (left) and 6 nodes removed all negative.  At that same time ultrasound noted solid suspicoiu mass on right breast checked @ same time, benign. In January of 07 had bilateral breast ultrasound, multiple scattered cysts throughout both breasts all quadrants. Majority meeting symple cyst criteria, others sharply circumscribed w/internal echoes. @ that time they did pay close attention to 3-oclock position (R Breast) but said the 1x.08x0.4mm oval area was circumscribed & a hypoechonic nodle that "most likely" correlated w/findings of focal enhancing lessions they had found on  MRI week before, so was told to have my yearly mammo this July,  I have and now the radioligst has said @ the 3-oclock position there is a complex appearing combination of cyst & possibly solid lession though low lyling echoes with in structure adjecent may represent hemmorage or debris, said it measures 1.5cm length & 5mm transverse diameter. Also @ 11-oclock (R breast) 8mmx6mm solid structure.  Biopsy recommended on 11-oclock & ultra sound guided aspiration on 3-oclock @ same time. What does all this mean,  what kind of chanes are these in only 6-months, I am very scared and discouraged, this will be my 4th surgery / biopsy in just over a year.

Dear cathi in florida:  Without reviewing the mammograms, ultrasounds, MRI’s and doing a clinical breast examination, it is not possible for us to speculate on what these abnormalities may represent.  Certainly, if something appears “suspicious” on film, the only way to know for certain is to do a biopsy.
