Is he taking too many drugs?

I understand what the drugs, lithium, trazodone, valium, and prozac are taken for.  What concerns me is the combination of these drugs.  Are they safe to take together?

Maggie,

Lithium is a mood-stabilizing medication. Trazodone and Prozac are both antidepressants. Valium is an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) medication. Whether these medications are the most therapeutic combination depends on the diagnosis, and the treatment response. They may be safe in combination, but it would depend on the dose, patient's age, and medical status. The major side effect could be sedation. I urge you to discuss your concerns with your physician.
