Late period

by fallingdeeper, Sep 16, 2006 12:00AM
I had sex August 18th 2006.  That was the last day of my period, that normally last between 6 to 7 days.  I was supposed to have my period on september 8 or 9, but I haven't.  I am regular so that's why I am worried.

I took three pregnancy tests last week two and yesterday another and also a blood test and they came back negative.

I am not sure if I should be worried or not? Could it be stress? Weight issues?

Why would you be worried if you had three pregnancy tests and they were negative? What would possibly make you think all three were not right?  And why are you this worried when you are not that late? I think you are under some kind of stress and you are compulsively acting it out in your fear of pregnancy. There could be a number of reasons for a late period- and you would need a doctor to do a physical examination and/or a sexual history to float various hypotheses-- but I am not sure that would calm you.  I think you need to go talk to a counselor or therapist and find our what is making you so anxious. It is not so rare that women will skip a month for no discernible reason and certainly no long term effect on teir body. That said , only a real medical check up will look for other explanations besides pregnancy.  Find a good doctor and accept his diagnosis. If you cannot accept the fact that you are safe and not pregnant after you have had second opinions that confirm this fact ,then I really think a therapist will be beneficial to you. You will need to see a professional so that you can understand why you have these grave physical fears without data to support them,

It could be either of the above.  Every woman skips a period or is late at one time or another.  If your period doesn't show in another week, take another test and call your gyn for advice as to what you should do next.

At this point, on Sept. 17th, it should be.
