what should i do?

by lilnrosmom, Sep 19, 2006 12:00AM
i have a quick question, kinda silly but here goes. i had to visit my gyn this past week for severely heavy bleeding with lots of large clots. everything turned out fine, but i had to begin taking 2 birth control pills a day to regulate my hormones. my question is this: i have a peasize(maybe smaller) bump at the top(down there) just below pubic hair. not near clitoris or labia or anything like that, i just would like to know if anyone out there has experienced anything like this and can it be from the pills? would a hot towel work. its not VERY painful, of course i've been messing with it tryin to figure out what it is, since i just went to the dr. and they inspected down there, im not really worried i would just like to get rid of it. thanks for any replies!!!!!!!

This question requires a medical exam for an adequate answer. If the doctor did examine you and found nothing- it obviously did not set your mind at ease. So go see another doctor and see if you can get more information.

Im sorry, i dont have any info on your problem, but you might want to try posting this on the Womans health forum...the woman there are very helpful and more than likely there is someone there who has been through the same thing :)

Could be a hair follicle.  If it is, time will tell.  I don't think the bc pills are related to it.  If it gets worse, maybe call your doctor, but if I were you, I would wait and see.

you say your dr inspected it, was it when it was "infected"? there are a few things it could be but i dont want to say. for sure maybe if you shave it could be an ingrown hair. also like a previous poster said it could be a clogged follical. i have had this and it hurts like #$@@. dont mind the poster that was rude. you dont sound young you just have a question!

I have a spot like you describe, in the same place. Every once in a while it swells up, never bursts or comes to a head, (sorry, gross, I know) but it hurts when it's swollen. I have tried to "pop" it. Nothing works. I went for a pap last week and the doctor said it was a cyst. He said I would have to have surgery to remove it, but it may come back. I don't know if this applies in your situation, but I know when I have odd bumps, I can't help but pick and squeeze. It's best to leave it alone until it's ready. Ugh. Hope the pain goes away soon.

I've had that happen to me before from a clogged hair follicle.  It was filled with puss.
