Morning after pill effective 72-120 hours. which one 72 or 120?

by domtri, Sep 26, 2006 12:00AM
I had unprotected sex Sat.sept. 23 around 2-3am. I took the morning after pill today on Tuesday Sept. 26 at 10:35 am. I am about 83 hours instead of w/in 72 hours. My center said I have up until 120 hours. I had my period Sept. 13 which means I had intercourse around ovualtion . ( I do have reg. menstrual cycles.) I am confused on the effectives of the morning after pill. I know no one can give me a defininte answer I will not know that until my next cycle. I know chances of morning after decrease the later it is taken, but at what percentage?

I don't know the answer to this question- but I know where you can find it- email Planned Parenthood. They have information on emergency contraception and can give you definitive answers on the efficacy of the morning after pill. You can call them up- or go to their excellent and highly informative website.

You may want to call the drug company who manufactures the morning after pill. If you know the name of the drug company, I would google it and usually you will find a 1-800 number you could call.

It's a 75% success rate.  I think they are now saying you can take it up until 5 days(120 hrs)after unprotected sex.  I'm sure you will turn out to be fine. It can delay your period or start it early.  If you don't get your period within a week of when you are supposed to then take a pregnancy test.

I took Plan B 42 hrs after unprotected sex.  Still got preg.  Plan B won't do anything if you're already preg.
