unusual premenstrual spotting

by steviej, Oct 15, 2006 12:00AM
I sometimes have premenstrual spotting that happens on the 2nd or 3rd day before my period is due.  The spotting is very brief (it is evident only for an hour so) and light pink in color.  It is so slight that I don't even notice it on toilet paper but rather when I check my cervical mucus (I am trying to conceive).  I have read that premenstrual spotting can be an indication of low progesterone.  This is a concern for me b/c we are using donor insemination and it is very expensive.  So if I have a progesterone problem, I would like to know ASAP.  However, from the reading I've done, my spotting does not sound like the normal premenstrual spotting - which seems to generally last 2-3 days solid and be brownish in color.  Any idea what is going on?

Thanks!!
