Period 1 week after getting off depo, is this normal?

by truevocals, Oct 31, 2006 12:00AM
I have recently gotten off the depo shot. I started it May of 2003 and was suppose to receive it again on Oct 5, 2006. I didn't go back for it because it was recommended that you don't stay on depo for over 2-3 years because of new studies with bone density. I didn't get on anything else because I wanted my body to take a break from hormones for a while. As of Oct 15th or so I've been bleeding constantly. It isn't heavy, but it's consistent. I also have tender breast and have been feeling sick after a eat. My question I"m am wondering about is first off is the bleeding right after I got off the shot normal? I've been reading that it takes a few months to get your period back and mines came back not even a month after I stopped the shot. Also is it possible to get pregnant that fast after getting off depo or are these just normal side affects?

As for the immediate period. I have learned that anything is possible after coming off the depo. I have however had the other symptoms you were talking about. Even went to Doc for a blood test cause 3 home preg tests came back negative. My breasts were really tender and tingly, it was almost like someone had slathered on icy hot and exposed 'em to the wind. I would get nauseous at odd times too. I was in Subway and just looking at the food would make me sick. This has gone on now for about 2 1/2 weeks. I still haven't gotten my first period after coming off of the shot. My last shot was August 4th, so my next one would have been due first week in Nov. Doc told me that you can have your period return just a few weeks after your next shot would have been, hence why you have to take the shot every 3 months or it could take as long as 10 months.

I have been off the shot since March....next shot would've been due early may.

For a few months I have had no bleeding whatsoever, and then for the last few months have been averaging a "period" every 10-12 days.

I haven't had anything now for 37 days.

I have had several neg pregnancy tests...very sore breasts...convinced I'm pregnant.????

Has anyone experienced anything similar?

When will it end?

I have been on Depo for almost 7 years.
