Vagina Infections

by Becky13, Dec 17, 2006 12:00AM
Hi,I am a 27 yr old female and have problems with white cervical mucus, which makes my vagina extremely dry. It started 2yrs ago when I became sexually active.I noticed a white discharge, got checked and it was Strep B.It went away with antibiotics but came back twice every 3 months.I started using a vaginal gel to lower the pH & results have been negative. After the antibiotics, mucus started to subside but came back again in 6 months when I stopped using the gel for 1 month. I still have the excessive white discharge. The bleeding of my periods went from alot to almost nothing since the discharge. Sometimes it smells & I get itchy but all of the tests now are coming back negative for everything (yeast, bacteria, chlymidia, etc) since I used the gel. The PAP test and swabs of the cervix are negative too.The vagina gel seems to turn the discharge from sticky to white chunks & makes my vagina very dry.Do I have something uncommon that they haven't tested for?  I tried using Acidophilus pills to recolonize the vagina but the outside of the pill would dissolve but not the white powder containing the bacteria so I don't think that helped.  Also, my vaginal opening is extremely red & painful.I think it is irritation from sex since my vagina is very dry now. My mucus was always thin and clear before these infections.I am afraid I might have a serious infection b/c I don't get the thin, clear mucus anymore. Do you think something in the gel is interferring with the vaginal tests. I don't use gel for 1-2 weeks before the tests. I went to 2 doctors & no one knows what's going on.

You really need to go to a gyncologist over this. If your doctors don't know, keep trying new doctors. This kind of thing needs both an examination and a slide to see what bacteria might be involved. Please go see an appropriate professional soon- someone will be able to figure it out.

It kind of sounds like vaginosis or vaginitis. Goes undignosed in most cases,I know it did for me.  I saw a holistic nutritionist as a last resort, best thing i ever did.No more problems after years dealing with endless tips to the gyno and no answers. Your ph level is very important, when it comes to this sort of problem. I would Recommend Taking the acidophilous EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make sure you keep it in the fridge, its a live product!. Take atleast 1100 mg of vit c, I prefer the bufferd by metagenics. When you take antibiotcs it will bring on yeast infection and it sounds like the last thing you need. Vit c kills infection and will also helps boost your immune system. You also need to make some MAJOR, Major changes in your diet. I would seek holistic care they're more in depth with finding the problem in stead of masking it with guessing and antibiotcs, their testing is way more advanced . A diet change and supplements are your only hope. Drink atleast half your body weight in oz. of water a day, thats a must and P'Aduarco tea is also highly recommened for you. read up on vaginosis or vaginitsis and Candida.
