withdrawal and pregnancy

My hubby and I have been married six yrs.  I recently went off bcp but we aren't trying to get pg yet.  My hubby has been using the withdrawal method.  He is VERY good at it, and leaves in plenty of time.  I've read conflicting info on the web though.  Some sites say taht there IS enough sperm in pre-ejac to impregnate a woman and some says there is NOT enough sperm.  Which is correct?



Also, how long does sperm live outside the body?

Theoretically you can get pregnant from pre-ejaculate. It would be difficult, you need a LOT of sperm to have a good chance at pregnancy- but several things I have read indicate pregnancy is possible. Sperm cannot, however, live long outside the body-- no one has ever , to my knowledge , gotten pregnant from a toilet seat or from sperm on a bed sheet.



  I wonder why you are using the withdrawal method? That seems emnotionally difficult even if he is good at it. If you want natural birth control, the method that seems to work best is the basal temperature method which can be read about online. Withdrawal does , it seems to me, entail some risk.



  To get the latest information, direct this question to a physician who may have more recent and better information than I have.

Meant to add - we have intercourse every other day just about except when I'm having my cycle.  So there's a good chance that we've done this while I was ovulating.

There is no sperm in pre *** unless your husband  hasn't gone to the bathroom in between the last time he has ejaculated and  being intimate with you again.

I have to disagree my doctor told me there is enough sperms in pre-ejacualtion to get you pregnant. And trust me I know because I got pregnant on this method of withdrawl and he also was very good at it.  So yes you can get pregnant.  So if you are not ready I would use protection.

I noticed how once you were proven wrong ( and you are wrong) that you got deffensive. The man can "be good at it" and accidents still happen. Hence...enough sperm in precomme.

My advice to the woman that asked the question, if you don't want to get pregnent use BC and if your up for the responsibility, keep doing what your doing!!  Good luck

science and doctors say this and its correct that withdrawal can cauz a pregnancy so if ure 100% sure u dont wana get pregnant then plz use protection. but if ure ok about it as in if it happens its ok and if it doesnt thats ok too ,then this is the way to go. im married and we r a 50-50% about gettin pregnant so my husband and i r using the withdrawal thing since a yr and its worked for us i didnt get pregnant but thats a coincedence.

It lowers the chances of getting pregnant when you only come in contact with pre-*** versus the full load..lol. BUT...there is still enough in that pre-ejaculate to get you pregnant.



If you dont want to be a mommy anytime soon I suggest going back on the pill or using another method..such as a condom.

Well I'm gonna bet you are not a Doctor but maybe you should ask your's how pregnancy occurs because I think YOU are confussed not me. I know how it happens.  And it doesn't matter how good or bad you are at the withdrawl method it can still happen.

Pre *** doesn't contain sperm!!! I am not wrong.  If he ejaculated he didn't pull out in time.

The limited number of sperm in pre-*** makes it extremely unlikely that conception would occur, even if your dribbling was within the fertile window.   If he didn't urinate between the time he last ejaculated and the time when the poster thinks she could have gotten pregnant then, it does contain some sperm. The problem with the pull-out-and-pray method of contraception is not so much the pre-*** but the inability of Mr. Dickhead to get far enough away from the vaginal opening before loosing his load.

Sparkler is right. Studies have shown that there is NO sperm in pre-ejaculate, unless he hasn't urinated since last ejaculating. That's because pre-ejaculate comes from the cowper's gland, not the testicles. Its purpose is to lubricate and neutralize the urethra (urine is acidic and extremely unfriendly to sperm) in preparation for ejaculation.

This pre-ejaculate discussion is kind of a moot point.  No one is talking about pre-ejaculate here,  that is the clear fluid that is present pretty much in the beginning of the sexual encounter.



We're talking about actual ejaculate.  A man tries to "pull out" in a race with the sperm-laden actual ejaculate.



What you're trying to avoid implanting,  in the "pull-out" method isn't pre-ejaculate.  It's the full load.

I'm not sure. but it does seem like this question has caused quiet a debate. Which both sides make good points. If you do not want to get preg. then use another type of bc. If you don't want to be on the pill anymore then try condoms. Me personally wouldn't risk it. but good luck in whatever you do.

I can tell you for sure that you CAN indeed get pregnant using the withdrawel method. I am now 38 weeks pregnant using that exact method...lol.
