I am pretty sure i am infected with HIV   .. heres the story..

4 years ago had high risk exposure and some brief symptoms after were

-Purple rash over the body 2 days after exposure

-Swollen groin the day and the next day after exposure

-fever on the 4 day mark as well.. i was on a plane so this could be jet lag..

Symptoms within the 4 years

-tingling and numbness every now and than

-Blood in the stool over a handful of times

1 week and a half i have what i think is established HIV symptoms

-Diarrhea or other bowel changes

-Extreme Fatigue

-Tingling and numbness in my fingers whenever i sleep..

-Twitching in muscle parts

-Growling in stomach

So i go in for a blood test and get checked up.. got a call last night which i missed..

the message was like this

"We have your blood test result right now..The doctor would like to discuss this with you.. PLEASE return to the medical lab for your results and *pause* we don't do THIS over the phone..."

It sounds suspicious but you cannot know unless you are seeing a doctor- why are you not doing this?  If it is HIV there are treatments now and the sooner they are given the better your chance of living a long time with this disease as opposed to being sicker or not making it. Really, they can do so much- and you need to know- for your physical health, for the people who are around you and for your mental health. You have been worried about this a long time- putting this off longer won't change the answer- but it can change the possibility of an excellent prognosis. For your sake, go see the doctor right away- no one wants to hear a positive diagnosis but if the worst is true, you have treatments that can give you life and a high quality of life. Please go see that doctor!

Life shapes you but don`t forget you can also shape life, no matter what the results are. Wishing you all the best.

Shyboy,  I have a friend who tested negative and he got that exact message by phone.  He had to make an appointment with the doc to receive his results,  and the doc read him the riot act about being careful before delivering the negative test  results.

I have the symptoms you're discussing - and it's due to anxiety on my part.  I am at zero risk for HIV.

Prayers you'll get good news.

They shouldn't leave a message on any answering machine regarding any HIV results, good or bad.  Can you imagine if a wife for girlfriend listened to a message, even about a negative HIV result?  World war 3.

What was the nature of the high risk exposure?

thnx for your input everyone..

I was overseas at a club.. drunk out of my mind.. and had unprotected sexual intercourse with an unknown women..

I heard that ARS dosen't happend till 2 - 4 weeks after exposure.. my symtpoms where right after.. I also heard that some people don't even notice such symptoms..

I've been healty for the past 4 years which made me put this aside for the most part.

this past week.. anytime i sleep my fingers start to freeze up.. and i feel really tired the whole day.. i live in a healty life style.. work out 5 times a week so i am suspecting something is wrong..

Can blood in my stool be caused by HIV?

i am already prepared for the worst..

Merry Christmas everyone!

I've always had protected sexual intercourse.. it would be awful if the only time i didn't.. i would catch the disease..

I've also heard the chances of female to male transmission is not as high as well? like 5 out of 100 exposures?

You need to spend some time over on the HIV forum that is moderated by Dr. HHH.  Go read the hundreds of posts like yours.

If that was your only exposure, I truly think you have nothing to worry about in regards to HIV.  Symptoms mean nothing, there are tons of things far more common that have the same symptoms.  ARS wouldn't start right away.  Blood in the stool is not a symptom, either.

I agree they should not have left a message like that.  That's enough to send somebody jumping off a bridge.  Alot of times doctor's offices are funny about giving results over the phone.  Yes, even negative results.  I have been tested so many times (for extremely/no risk exposures) and a couple of times the doctors looked so funny & serious it was nauseating.  It reminds me of the episode of Sex and the City when the doctor told Samantha she needed to come in to the office to discuss her results & she fainted.  She was negative.  I know it's a tv show, but it is true that some doctors & nurses do try to scare people & it's really not a good thing to do to someone.  Your risk was low.  The stats are 1 - 2000 from female to male.  So to me, the odds are that you don't have hiv.  Good luck!
