"next day pill" 2 times within 1 month (side effects)

by redyellow, Mar 27, 2007 12:00AM
Hi,
I posted a question yesterday, and this is kind of a follow up on that one.
Las month, on feb 21, my Girlfriend and I had an accident with a condom, so she had to take the next day pill (norlevo, in spain).
anyway, she took it and had her period on Feb 25th, which was according to her normal schedule. She just mentioned feeling nausea when she took the pill, and a bit more pain than usual when she had her period.
Last sunday, it happened again... another accident. Anyway, we cant find her gynecologist, and we're wondering if there would be any side effects of taking the same pill again, in a one month period...
Id appreciate your quick response.
Thanks.

This is a medical question and needs to be answered by a physician rather than a Ph.D. and relationship expert... you might want to redirect this to Dr.Hunter Hansfield who could give you a better medical answer.

He won't answer--he only handles HIV/STD related questions.

My suggestion would be to call your pharmacist, or her doctor, or Planned Parenthood. And my suggestion for the future would be to get some reliable backup birth control. She should talk with her doctor about maybe going on the pill, ring, whatever.

if she had a period after the first pill, you should be okay but you are never supposed to take two doses in one month, you should not have unprotected sex until she gets a period.  her system is has been exposed to a lot of hormones all at once so it's gonna be wacky for awhile.  wait for a period and then get her on regular birth control!
