A fatty liver is called Steatosis.  If there is inflammation in the fatty liver it is called Statohepatitis.  It is unknown why fat accumulates in the liver, but the occurances increase in people who are morbidly obese, have alcohol or drug habits, or have diabetes.  If a fatty liver is left untreated, or bad habits continue, a disease such as cirrhosis will occur and the liver may fail.  Stopping the alcohol, losing weight, and a good diet and exercise program may help reduce or stop fat accumulation in the liver; there are also medications the doctor may wish to try.  At this point, they may wish to just "watch" the liver for a while to see how it goes before beginning any drug regime.  Hope this helps

as far as nutritional therapy, if your friend has fatty liver disease, he/she should consume a low fat diet

fatty liver patients eed to folllow a iver friendly diet and get proper exercise regularly. That is very youg to have it, lifestye chages are in order. Losing the weight, uttig out alcohol and eatig right he can reverse the fatty liver. If it progresses more problems can arise. It needs to be addressed it is a serious condition. I'd get a specialist's opinion, from a Heptologist if possible.

Proper liver funciton is essential for life.  The liver is responsible for removing and neutralizing toxins and germs from the blodds, promoting digestion, maintaining hormone balace, regulating blood sugar levels, and making protiens that regulate blood clotting.

Liver stress casued by toxins, poor diet, or disease lead to liver damage.  The first state is called "Fatty Liver".  When your liver is impaired your blood will normally become increasingly acidic.  Have your friend check is pH.  Go to your local pharmacy and ask for litmus-paper.  Have him expose the strip to his saliva immediatly after he wakes up and again right before breakfast.  The color of the litmus paper will change according to your acidity.  If he is too acidic, there are lots of things he can do to help prevent more stress on his liver.
