for those with negative pregnancy test and still no period

by ruthy2874, Sep 16, 2005 12:00AM
hi.  this is not really a question.  but i see that alot of you have posted about negative tests and still no period.  i just wanted to comment on that.  if you don't start your period and you keep having negative pregnancy tests, then you really should see a gyno.  lots of things can cause this.  and if you having pain in your pelvic area as well, that is more the reason to see a dr.  in june, my period was late.  i thought i was pregnant.  then i started having pain in my right side.  a familiar pain since i have had it before when i had dermoid tumors on both ovaries and they were removed in 2000.  but i took 5 htp's and all were negative.  so i went to my dr.  he sent me for an ultrasound which showed nothing.  my period finally started the day of the ultrasound.  it was very clotty and heavy.  very abnormal for me since i have had 2 children.  so i called back cause i was still hurting. so he sent me for a ct scan.  that showed i had another dermoid tumor on my left ovary.  so, when there is something wrong with the ovaries, uterus or fallopian tubes, then that can cause a late period.  also, polycystic ovarian syndrome can cause irregular periods and missed periods.  i just want to help others who have this happen to you.  hopefully a  late period means nothing is wrong  and it starts for you.  but i have learned the best way to protect fertility is when there is a problem, even the slightest problem, go see a dr.  i almost lost my chance to ever have children.  and now, i want more children and i got the problem again.  take care everyone and i wish you all the best.

So did you find out what was wrong? I am having similar symptoms. I usually have normal periods but not last month. I had very light spotting after my period and watery colostrum last month. Now I am 3 days late and still no period. The last time I was 3 days late was when I was pregnant with my son. I took a test yesterday, but it was negative. Now I wonder if I am even ovulating normally. I will retest if my period doesn't come by next week. If the test is still negative I will go to the doctor.
