Post EMG neuralgia

by onrey55, Aug 03, 2007 04:00PM
I had an EMG on monday. During the procedure when the doctor inserted the needle near the median nerve?, i think, just below the elbow, I had a very intense painful burning sensation from the needle site down to my palm so strong I felt like I was gonna pass out. As soon as the needle was out it was ok. By wednsday if I stretched my arm, I was recieving the same kind of "shock" down the same area. Also if you touched the puncture site it sent a mini shock down the arm. By Friday morning, I can barely move my arm because any motion send electrically "shocks" down my arm. I called the doctors office and he ordered Gabapentin and MRI and labs but his attitude was like he thought I was making this up. I would love to be making it up because "IT HURTS". Have you ever heard of this? Is this common? Anything I can do at home to help other than not using my arm?

Thanks
