A friend of mine is taking Bellergal STabs (generic name?) to control hot flashes caused by menapause. What kind of a drug is it and does it relate to estrogen in any way. I am not a candidate for "Hormone Replacement Therapy," and won't be able to take Bellergal if it is related. Thank you in advance.

This medication is a combination of ERGOTAMINE, BELLADONNA ALKALOIDS, and PHENOBARBITAL. It is not hormones similar to estrogen.
This medicine is an ergot alkaloid, anticholinergic, and antispasmodic combination used to treat hot flushes, sweating, dizzy spells, restlessness, and headaches associated with menopause.
