Worried about a medication possibility

by pinballguy, Mar 19, 2002 12:00AM
My Doctor has yet to call me back, I am in HMO hell. Anyway I am taking Celexa and Adderral and Trazodone. I also have a Sinus infection and have been prescribed AUGMENTIN. My cousin was on Cylert for ADD and Augmentin for a bronchial infection and he developed a rare condition called "Steven's Johnson Syndrome" he was in a burn center for almost 2 months and almost died. He is now very sensative to light and has scars.

Question: Am I taking a risk or am I more at risk due to having a blood relative who had SJS? / if I take the augmentin? I'm kind of at a standstill here. I feel like someone going Skydiving for the 1st time about to be thrown out of the plane.

Thanks,

     Rss

I am sorry to say that I am not expert enough to answer this question. Psychiatrists don't prescribe augmentin, so I am not familiar with the risk.

I think you are very wise to be cautious.  One simple work around would be to take a different antibiotic..there are many that will work.

Other than that, your doctor or post this question on the medicine forum here and let one of our experts answer that quesiton.
