amnesia

Would a person suffering from amnesia know that they lost a chunk of time.  In other words, is it like a blackout resulting from alcohol use? Can you remember you had amnesia even after 9 months?

Also, for any drug which causes amnesia or loss of memory (amnesia)would one generally feel woozie after taking it?

If you are talking about the effects of some of the designer drugs like ecstacy, etc, they can have many kinds of deleterious effects on the brain and memory, depending on how pure or contaminated they are. One of those kind of drugs would also have an immediate effect like feeling woozie or odd.

But there are other causes of amnesia related to neurological disorders, and how much is remembered depends on the neurological lesion involved.  In general people become aware of amnesia when some contradiction occurs in their life that they can not explain.
