I was involved in a physical hold on 1-14-2004.  I was injured in the face by a violent pt.  The gentleman that was with attempted to keep the pt off of me which he injured my face and tore my shirt.  The person that was assigned with me ran and did not bother to help me and the other gentleman.  Now in the last two weeks I have been involved i two physical holds and literally want to hurt the pts because I am afraid that I will be hurt again.  I still have nightmares about the incident and wonder if i have ptsd and need to call my psciastict since I am being treated for bi polar disorder.  thank you for your advise in this situation

I don't know if it fits the diagnostic category, and that doesn't really matter.  Yes you should talk this through with your psychiatrist because it was traumatic, and there are issues of abandonment( the staff who ran away) and the anger that must provoke.
