Wondering about symptoms and how to fix it

by shocker, Aug 04, 2004 12:00AM
Alright, so i was in a car accident 2 years ago...i was pretty good with stress until i was prescribed ativan and xanax. and a number of antidepressants. I'm off completely of all drugs. But have been left with high blood pressure that flacuates up and down, very easily stressed out (seems as if the drugs knocked my brain out of whack) tense muscles, numbness in my left face off and on, stomach pains, and just a sense of stress the hell out. Trust me it has gotten better than it first was but its been this way for almost 2 years now. How can i go from a complete normal person to symptoms like this after takin those drugs? I don't get it. Anyways, I've tried excerise, eatin right, takin supplements( st. johns wort, one a day vitamin)...i mean i tried these for maybe 3 month periods and would get upset because nothing was really working. Now, first off..i'm 29 years old and this is been going on for almost 2 years...do you think there is any damage in anyway? I know this can be cured, but i'm really given up on what to do...i hate feelin this blah stress feelin and like I just get stressed over little stuff. I'm also sick of the symptoms which i try to ignore. Now my main purpose is to think positive and thats what i'm tryin to do but its hard. I guess my main question is what should I do? Does this sound like a chronic thing? Some days are better than others. Could those drugs effected how things are now? I know I got really depressed on them. Anyways, What do I need to do to fix this? I"m worried about my blood pressure going from 140/100 when i go to the doctors but everytime they do it i get nervous and then when i check it at home its 130/83...don't know. I'm worried i'm going to stress my self out and have a heart attack or stroke. Should I worry about this or is this over long term. I want to fix this bad. I notice when i do thinkk positive my numbness does go away it seems and my stomach pains go away, but its hard. So should I excersise more, would that may be more resistance to stress? Have you heard of people like this and what have they done? I'm really worried about my health..i feel like a hypocondriate. Just tell me i'll be fine and the body can withstand alot of stress...its long term stuff that causes problems..

I think you are suffering from anxiety not the effects of medications.  I suggest you talk to a therapist about your life and future and what is not going well for you, and this will probably all clear up in a relatively short time.
