hpv and growths on eyelids

by pauley, Oct 10, 2005 12:00AM
I was at the eye doctor and he removed a growth from my eyelid, I asked him what caused this and he said the HPV.  Could you tell me the relationship between hpv and this growth on my eyelid?  I am 51 years old and have had many problems with abnormal bleeding in the past.  I been tested for everything over the course of about 5 years to determine a diagnosis and was never told I had hpv.  I do know that I was tested for STD's because I questioned my doctor as to why since I have has the same partner for 33 years.

Hi,

Not all strains of HPV are sexually transmitted; for example, HPV-1 which causes common warts on your hands and feet.  Just curious, why would you think it's an STD if it's on your eyelid?

I recently was tested for stds also and was told that doctors do not test a patient for hpv unless they suspect hpv because the test is so expensive.  I found this out AFTER I requested to be tested for all stds.  I only asked for the tests because I have never been tested and I have dysplasia and was told that dysplasia can be caused, but not always, from hpv.
