Over the past 6 months I have gained 30 pounds. I have OCD and was put on Lexapro along with other meds which really put the weight on fast. My doctor swithced my meds to Zoloft, Serequel, Anfranil, Klonopin, and Proprnolol for my anxiety and OCD. My OCD is finally under control and I no longer take serequel. I also spent 6 months at Rogers Memorial Hospital in Wisconsin defeating my OCD in an incare patient treatment facilitity.I was a germafobe. Now all I do is obsess about my weight. It is really impacting my social life. I currently take 25mg of Topamax in the morning and 50mg at night. I have been on it for 3 weeks and haven't seen any weight loss or side effects. Each week I will increase my dose 25mg. Does anyone have any advise for me? Does this topamax really help people loose weight? I'm a heavy pot smoker and that really gives me the munchies. I know that In order to stop eating at night I got to stop smoking pot. But overrall does Topamax work for weight and when will I see any changes? How does Topamax work for weight loss? Why does it work for some and not for others? Thank you

If topamax will work for you it will work by decreasing your appetite so if you continue to increase your appetite with pot, you will be defeating yourself. You can only lose weight if you eat less and exercise more. If emotional eating is a problem for you, go to www.masteringfood.com and learn more about it.

Hi! I am a 22 year old who had many problems with weight as a child! I was in volleyball, basketball, and Track & Field in school and ran for fun in the summer. I was 5'7 in high school weighing about 160 to 200lbs. I went into my doctor because I had really bad cramps and he put me on Ortho-Tricycline. and Topomax. Along with Wellebutran. Not sure why Wellebutran ( I was 17 and they thought I was bi-polar) (I wasn't I was to high strung from all my sports and activities in school and having no time for me). Nonetheless, Topamax worked for me. I was 140lbs by the time I was a freshman in college. I ended up stop taking it though because I was having cramp problems again in college though. The new doc. switched me to the shot. It was great until two years later when in a two month period I gained 100lbs. I was still very active as well. So there was no excuse for the weight gain. Well, a year and a half later I asked my doctor to put me back on Topamax just to lose weight! I sure hope it works because! Sure at 22 my body is a lot different from 17 or 19 or even 21 but I don't fit my clothes and was once a comfortable size 13 and now I'm size 22! Talk about a getto booty! I hate it. I weight 224 pounds and in a male size I'm one size bigger than my boyfiend who once weighed more than me! So I am praying Topamax along with my new birth control will do the same magic it did when I was younger. So, my question is why don't other doctors perscribe this when putting a girl on the shot. Solve her problems all together! I work way to hard to be a big girl. I want to puke everytime I look in the mirror. I have more stretch marks than well a stretched out balloon. And I like balloons. What is it with the shot that mad me gain weight that fast?
