Vaginal Itching

For the past few days, I have been experiencing serious vaginal itching. I do not have any abnormal discharge, but it does burn when I urinate. I have noticed that the folds inbetween my labia contain what looks like tiny toliet paper shards or perhaps dry skin? I also have experienced some of this burning and itching around my anus. My symptoms seem to be improving slightly (I am trying not to scratch, drinking more water, and avoiding toliet paper), but it is still bothersome. I would much prefer to self-treat this than go to a doctor.

bacterial vaginosis...blah.

clindamycin inserts for 3 days; I hear the oral medication is really awful with side effects (severe nausea and what not), so I would recommend the inserts!

Please do let us know what the doctor diagnoses.  I have the exact same symptoms.

Simple vasiline might help.  You could also try using summer's eve cleansing cloths for sensitive skin instead of toliet paper. They have aloe and vitamin E and feel soothing. Hope you feel better!

It could be either a yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis. I'd check with a docotr, espeically if you've never had a yeast infection before. Good luck!

You can try OTC Vagisil. It will help with the itching. You're skin may be irritated with little fissures, causing the stinging when you go to the bathroom. What you may be seeing is whitish discharge, or simply caught toilet paper from dryness. Continue drinking water and maybe some cranberry juice. If symptoms hang around for a few more days, you may want to go to the doctors! Good luck!
