What is involved in a Pediatric Renal Tract Ultrasound?

by helliethepinapple21, Jun 10, 2007 12:00AM
My daughter has severe incontinence (she is 13)
We are from the UK and have been booked in for a Renal Tract ultrasound, she has been told to drink 1 litre of water and they are going to assess how well she empties her bladder - how do they do this?
Thanks

Probably with something called a voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) thay take video XRAYS of her bladder and urethra while she is voiding to see how the urine is flowing.  This can sometimes show up alternate paths of urine flow, which may explain her incontinence.

I trust she is being evaluated by a urologist or urogynecologist.
