Urination problems, including frequency & ability to hold urine

by kh_, Jul 07, 2007 12:00AM
I'm 27 & I've always been able to hold my urine for a long x. Howvr, I recently started having sex & noticed that starting concurrently I've had trouble holding my urine.

After the 1st x, when urinating, I couldn't quite get it all out.  This also happened on subsequent trips, along w some leakage after I stood up.  Then, I started being unable to hold my urine - I'd notice I had to go, but wld start leaking b-4 I had a chance to sit down.  Over the past two wks, the urgency has incresingly become stronger & more immediate, even if I don't have much urine.  Then yesterday, I urinated ~10 xs (maybe >) in 2 hrs x.  Almost always, I barely had anything, but couldn't hold it & my body would give me v little warning b-4 I would start urinating!  Was accomp'd by an unpleasant, v intense (but not ~quite~ painful/burning) sensation afterwards, & occas. the lightest red.  Later, my need to urinate started lessening, & so far today I'm doing ok making it to the b.room in x; no red today yet either.  But I am concerned.

Any idea what could've caused this?  Could it have anything to do w having sex (e.g, could something've been damaged during sex)?  What is the likelihood that this'll continue, or possibly clear up on its own?  Any ideas on poss. methods of treatment (if any) for my specific situation?

I know I should see a doctor, but I have a huge phobia w going to the doctor, & am hoping to get inf. here 1st if at all poss.

Thank you v much for your forum - v appreciated.

I am assuming that you are female. The symptoms you describe could be a bladder infection /UTI, or they could be from a sexually transmitted infection. It is hard to say which based on your description. PLease get a urine culture, and if this is negative, then get cultures of your cervix and urethra to determine if you have an infection in the urethra.
