Pressure in Sinuses

by LiLCritter, May 06, 2002 12:00AM
After seeing my doctor and being treated for my third sinus infection this year, I was diagnosed with nasal polyps. I was prescribed Nasonex which I use on a daily basis (two squirts up each nostril). The Nasonex doesn't seem to be working...it only dries out my passages. However, the stuffiness in my nose has dissapeared and I'm currently suffering from intense sinus pressure, pain in the roof of my mouth, sleepiness, trouble breathing, dizziness (if I work myself too hard), TERRIBLE migraines which last up to 6 days, and a complete lack of any sort of nasal fluid. My nose isn't stuffy....yet I'm experiencing symptoms of a sinus infection. I went back to my doctor and let her know. She told me to use saline soulution to clear everything out/....but there's nothing to clear out. It feels as though my nasal passages are being blocked...but there doesn't seem to be a thing up there. Could the nasal polyps be causing this painful and extremly frustrating problem?? The Nasonex isn't shrinking anything, just drying me out. I have an appointmet with a surgeon in Boston this Friday...Im looking into surgury.

What do you reccommend?? Could this be something else other than polyps?? Help!!!

This could be polyps and it could also be that the polyps have blocked the opening of the sinuses. This can cause much of what you are describing. It is most likely that the ENT surgeon will perform a sinus CT scan to determine what is going on.
