lung cancer duration

What would be the condition of a person with symtomatic lung cancer (vague chest pain, shortness of breath, chronic cough, wheezing)after about six months without treatment? Would they have lost weight, feel tired, have loss of appetite, be dead, bedridden, etc? Would they look healthy on the outside? What about 12 months?

These are very difficult questions, because it depends upon:

- the type of lung cancer since some have a better prognosis than others;

- the extent of the cancer and whether it has spread elsewhere;

- the type of treatment such as surgery, radiation, or medicine;

- the duration of treatment; and

- the effect of the treatment on the lung cancer.

There is thus no general answer we can provide.
