by maiden, Jan 28, 2006 12:00AM
I am 35 yrs of age post hystorectomy.  I have battled chronic bv and have had kidney stones.  Now when onset of bv I experience pain in area onmy left back side near the same location as pain from the stones.  I have never had success of clearing the bv with any prescription or attempt of using live acodiphillus or yogurt, baking soda douches and etc.  Please help! I will soon start another presc. of Diflucan.

I used to get b.v ALL THE TIME and nothing worked until I tried some lifestyle changes: I quit using tampons for six months, stopped using body wash with those "poof" things ( I think they harbor bacteria) and quit using soap on my vagina.  I just rinse with water now, because the vagina is self-cleaning.  I also started eating yogurt at least once a day and-knock on wood- I haven't had b.v for awhile.  Good luck.

Oh- and one other thing that seemed to work- I took a bath with cider vinegar (about a cup in the whole bath) and all of these things seemed to help tremendously.  Hope I helped at least a little bit.

I have done the candida cleanse and have started the MAKER's DIET.  I have also taken 2 treatments of Diflucan with Cipro 2X 7 days.  Have been lethargic and trouble sleeping with some nite sweats.  I noticed tonight that the discharge has increased...grrrr!  At this point i have no itching just the white pasty discharge.  i have tried the vinegar baths in the past and will do so again.  Also have started taking the acidiphilous vaginally.  Gosh..I don't know what else to do.I have also had a sore throat for the past month tho it is mild.  I have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.  I am 35 yrs OLD. My sex life is uncomfortable due to this situation.  Will someone please be a God-send and help me.  My pockeet book is so empty and i am running out of ideas.

i have finished the 2 doses of diflucan and almost complete with the CIPRO.  The discharge has increased and starting to feel a return of the itching with this white thin discharge.  I have decided to bath in 1 cup of apple cider vinegar and 3/4 of cup of peroxide.  I hope this helps some.

One natural website suggested mixing 1/2 hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 water in an empty douch bottle and douching for 5 days.  In addition, they supplemented their diets daily with Folic Acid and Acidophilus in pill or live cultures found in yogurts. Several women found long term relief with this combination.
Another website recommended mixing 2 teaspons of Apple Cider Vinegar and 1 teaspon iodized salt in a half full yogurt container and applying vaginally for 7 days. Repeat as needed.
BV is an overgrowth of natural occuring bacteria thought to be brought on by an imbalance of vaginal ph. This can be caused by premenopause for those over 40, semen or menstrual cycles. Douching or rinsing the vagina may also lower the natural acidity making it easier for bacterial growth. Healthy vagina's also need oxygen, so refrane from tight clothing, pantyhose and wear mostly cotton pants and panties. Some advocate sleeping unclothed as well.
