Enlarged nasal turbinates and deviated septum

Hi! I'm an engineer from the Philippines with no known nasal problems at all.  I was assigned in the middle east last Sept 2005 and since then have complained of nasal problems.  An ENT doctor diagnosed me with acute sinusitis and gave me antibiotics, nasal spray and anti-pain pills.  I felt better during my medication but my problem returned after I finished my medication. I went to another ENT doctor and presccribed me again with antibiotics, nasal spray & anti allergic rhinitis pills.  Like the previous medication, I felt better but symptoms returned again after I finished the medicines.  I come upon again with another ENT surgeon that was recomended to me by a friend.  I told him my history of nasal problems that should be running now for 6 months already.  I told him that I also now experience chronic stuffy nose on one side of my nose especially when I lie down on my bed to sleep or when I take a seat.  Occassional headaches are also present.  He made me undergo a CT Scan and results showed that all my sinuses are normal except that I have enlarged turbinates and deviated septum that cause my chronic stuffy nose.  He prescribed me another nasal spray and anti allergy pill that he said might work.  Surgery too, he said might be a solution.  I want to know if surgery is the best solution for me or if possible can surgery still wait until december of this year because I'm planning to do it on December when I return to Philippines. Can you advise certain maintenance drug/routine for my stuffy nose?

My nose is always stuffy before and after sleep.

Since this is a matter of comfort, waiting until you return to a place where you feel more comfortable is certainly reasonable.  The best therapies and the safest are probably a combination of a nasal steroid spray and an antihistamine on a daily basis.  If you are getting better each time you take antibiotics, this would indicate the potential for a chronic sinusitis, despite the CT results you describe.  This would mean longer courses of antibiotics.
