horrible pain during sex

everytime my husband and i try to have sex, (even using excessive lubrication) i become extremely dry and sex becomes impossible for me. it's embarrassing as well as painful and frustrating. why is this happening, and how can it be avoided?

Could it be a yeast infection? I had one and thought it went away completely until I tried to have sex and it was also excruciating and dry....impossible...
