post thyroidectomy advice

by kickazzmom, Aug 16, 2007 07:41PM
I had a total thyroidectomy 1 month ago to remove several benign nodules.
I am taking .100 mg synthroid for 3 weeks now and feel as though my fatigue and lethargy
have become worse. I am having extreme difficulty concentrating and this is affecting my job. Can this be because my dosage is too low ? I am very interested in any nutritional advice to  help combat this problem. I am scheduled for followup testing in 1 month. Should I contact my Dr. or is this all just normal? My inability to focus is causing me extreme anxiety. I have not found much info on alternative and nutritional advice for someone without a thyroid. Can you direct me to anyone ?
Thanks so much

Some of this is normal adjustment -- give it more time.  Also, the dose may not be enough -- I usually test about 6 weeks after surgery then re-evaluate.  No specific nutritional advice other than balanced diet with exercise (target is 4-5 hours/week) and a multivitamin.
