awkward question

by LilLadyee, Mar 05, 2006 12:00AM
Since I have been off depo for one month and a couple days now.. How do you know when you ovulate since I don't have a period yet. And do you ovulate? If so can you get pregnant at the time of ovulation since I dont have a period?I dont know if this makes sence to anyone but in the last five years I have spent most of my time pregnant or on birth control. Wanting to have a 3rd child so trying to figure it all out. Thanks for any advise.

With depo you will not ovulate until at a minimum 3 months from your last shot.  And it can take a long time after that to get pregnant.  It can take a year or more after being on depo to be able to get pregnant.  If you do not start getting your period again when the 3 months is up, go back to your obgyn and have them give you a perscription for provera to jump start your period.  Don't get discouraged if it takes you a long time to get pregnant.  That is a very common problem with previous depo users (myself included) Good luck.

I also took the depo shot...my last shot was aug 04 and then in Nov 04 I started BCP to regulate my period.  In Aug 05 I stopped my BCP's because my husband and I were TTC and just found out this past weekend we are pregnant.  I took almost 6 months after the BCP's to get pregnant and I feel that was because the Depo was still in my system.  Depo can stay in your system 12-24 months after your last shot (some are different so this is not the case for everyone).  I would suggest provera to jumpstart you period, I took it in Dec and Jan.  If you are not having a period then you most likely are not ovulating.  Best of Luck!
