Absent Sural Response?????

by moeck, Aug 23, 2007 12:03PM
I finally got a copy of my file from the neurologist.  Aparently she had been leaning towards my problems all being neurological (except for the CTS) until she got my lumbar mri.  Then all her plans for the blood work, EPs and LP were out the door and she is blaming it all on:
"degenerative anterolisthesis" and CTS
However here are her neuro findings in a nutshell:
brain mri reveals a white matter signal abnormality bilaterally in the frontal lobes and is non-specific
deep tendon reflexes are brisk with "abnormal spread"
no sural response
positive hoffman's sign on the left
negative babinski bilateraly
increased tone in right lower leg withdecreased sensation
no peripheral neuropathy
no dysmetria (this was on July 30'th, I've devolped some since then)
prolonged peak sensory latencies on the right( okay, I already know about the CTS)
prolonged distal median latencies on the right (okay, I already know about the CTS)
Cervical spine mri reveals no cervical radiculopathy
electro-diagnostic data shows cervical radiculopathy

What the heck is sural response and is it being absent bad or good.  Google let me down on this one.  Lots of articles but none that made sense to me,
