alternative meds for thyroid

Dr. Lupo,

I had a friend suggest some alternative meds for thyroid health:
1.  Thyrotrophin PMG
2.  Limu Nei (Japanese herb)

Do you have any thoughts or experience with these?  I am euthyroid, but have high antibodies (hoshimoto's)
Thank you.

No reliable research on these -- other than the company's marketing.  I would avoid medications that have not been studied in humans with well-designed clinical trials.  Thyrotropin has animal gland extract -- would avoid.

Would consider selenium 200mcg / day fot reduce the antibodies though.
