Peripheral neuropathy?

by maggiemag, Aug 26, 2007 09:49AM
I have had a burning pain that also has some knifelike aspects to it for about a month in my left foot.  It is mostly on the top of the foot in the middle near the outer aspect.  I have no tingling or 'pins and needles' sensations.  The pain just comes and goes for no reason.  It is not related to walking either.  It also feels very very tender to touch when the pain is at its worst, which would be about a 7/10.  It does not keep me awake at night, so far anyway!  I don't think it is related to any shoes b/c I just wore flip-flops for over 2 weeks and it is actually getting worse.  I am not a diabetic, and I am sure of this as I just had routine labs done.  Is this a peripheral neuropathy?  I do have an appointment in a month with my neurologist who is investigating muscle weakness and thinks I may have mitochondrial myopathy.  I hope someone answers this post!
