sharp fast headache help please.

I dont know what headache it is it's diffrent from normal headaches i get from time to time. It hits me right on my Squamous Part above my left ear and for only 3 to 2 seconds it's sharp hot fire like pain sometimes it numbs squamous part.It happends at diffrent time more then 5 times a day and it goes away for week or to then comes back sometimes stronger sometimes weaker.Tell me what you think it could be.

Ice pick headches are sudden short lasting (30sec) bursts of headache that disappear even before the patient realises their onset. You need to visit the ophthalmologist to rule out any visual disturbances that could cause the headaches. OTC painkillers like indomethacin usually help in most cases. You should also try to avoid smoking/ alcohol/ strong light/ loud music and other stress precipitating factors.
