trying to get a grip

by holbalsa, Aug 27, 2007 09:48AM
Hello - I'm a 37 year old female, I have Hashimoto's.....and chronic osteomyelitis. My medications: levothyroid 175mcg and various vitamins/supplements.  Here is my question; 6 1/2 years ago my left forearm started cramping and burning..seemed like tendinitis. Med's didn't help- THEN about 3 years ago I started having wide spread fasiculations & wide spread cramping --burning cramps/tendon pain:  mostly my left foot & calf, & left hand, wrist & forearm--  the meat (not a medical term) on the palm of my left hand & left sole of my foot feels beat up..almost bruised and thin- , the joint in my left arm & foot hurt..also, even when my body isn't cramping and twitching my left foot and left arm have never felt the same since this began. ----the muscles buzz...not like when your muscles fall asleep but like an internal hummmm..(All symptoms are intermittent).So- 2 years ago I went to my Dr.- she referred me to neuro- he did an emg....told me if I had weakness to come back-( I forgot to ask all the ?'s that keep me up at night) ...   My right limbs seems nearly unaffected, just minor cramping/burning.
Other little things: some times my arm will jerk,  mild low back/sciatica pain, had surgery 3 1/2 years ago on left outer ankle - Dr.'s put in 3 screws and new tendon borrowed from left calf- last year had 1 screw removed because it had pushed out of the bone..
Last summer I lost my insurance (because of the chronic osteomyelitis) & have not been able to return to an m.d. - I am just going it alone til I can get back on some medical coverage.
So- I am certain I have forgotten something relevant...So my question is....am I o.k.? Do I appear to have some horrible motor neuron disease (A.L.S., M.S. etc) or is it osteomyelitis running amuck, or Hashimoto's????
Thank you for you time and sorry in advance for bad grammar and typos.
