Damage to CNS - is it reversable?

After two years of testing for every possible other cause, my doctors have decided it is probable that taking high doses of vasopressin in the form of DDAVP or Desmopressin for the last 15 years has messed with my CNS and caused autonomic dysfunction and a central pain syndrome. The end result is extreme burning throughout my body, much difficulty walking, and a host of other problems. I have found much recent research that suggests they are correct, but the doctors around me have no clue how to deal with it. I have just now stopped taking the DDAVP. I would like to know if you think this is reversable and how it might be accomplished. So far the only thing that has helped my pain is lidoderm patches. They are awesome, but do not cover near enough of me. Thank you so very much for your time.

I don't know of any direct link between DDAVP and autonomic dysfunction and central pain - are you sure there is no other cause. DDAVP is made to replace a naturally occurring substance, which could over time suppress any remaining ability to produce it by the body theoretically.



Ask your doctors what scientific evidence (ie from the medical literature) they have to support their diagnosis

I just wanted to ask what made your doctors think that you have central pain syndrome. May I also ask what autonomic symptoms are you experiencing? I would appreciate you explaining this to me as there is someone else I know who has complained of same thing.
